Mercado Barcelò
by Nieto y Sobejano
The Mercado Barceló is part of a larger project of transformation of a dense central area of Madrid. The complex includes a market (heart of the whole operation), shopping center, sports center, public library, car parks, temporary market and outdoor areas. The gleaming white polycarbonate pavilions, which temporarily house the market, will be reused elsewhere in the city once the permanent buildings, now under construction, are in place. (PG)
